A quiet, emotionally charged photobook exploring fatherhood, memory and change. Photographer Ivan Wentland documents his two sons in Hawaii, where shifting light, vegetation and seascapes echo a deeper narrative of growth and loss following their mother’s passing. The design approach embraces this duality—intimate yet expansive—allowing image sequencing, pacing and materiality to carry the emotional weight of the story.
Commissioned by Ephemere Tokyo and developed in close collaboration with founder Anne Murayama, the project reflects a careful balance between editorial restraint and poetic expression—honouring a deeply personal story with clarity, sensitivity and presence.
